Being a psychology major (which I doubt) doesn't change the fact that you were incapable of grasping that the study wasn't being designed to simulate US prisons. So of course they weren't given officers training, the guards were part of the experiment too. Give them little instruction and a good amount of free will and see what they do with it.

What the fuck are you talking about? The study isn't even about prisons, it's about human behavior and how it changes based on your surroundings/situations/power/status etc and was just using a prison like atmosphere to test it. This was not meant to be a simulation of a real prison, at least not in the United States or other "civilized" countries.

Did you actually listen and watch this video???? The early 1970s experiments were nothing like what you consider 'real life' then or now...obviously! The idea was that nearly all of them reacted as they thought they should. Unless someone is a guard, they don't know how to act. If someone isn't a CEO, they don't know what it's like to be one. The WHOLE experiment was about perceptions. I doubt you'd act differently in their situation.
